I slept 1 am and woke up 4:45 am to get ready to plant some mangrove tree for the sake of clearance. So I eat my breakfast took a bath and head out; Instead of wearing slippers and short I wore jeans and sneakers shoes nothing will go wrong. So I met up with my classmates heading to the met up area and when we arrive everyone is still waiting for their teachers to come. At last after a long wait out club teacher arrive and told us to head for the gym so we started walking to the location after we reach the gym we waited again after we waited we now proceed to the planting area of mangrove tree. It was low tide the ocean is far away from shore the morning sun fill everything yellow and the cold wind coming from the ocean great us as we approach the land we told so plant while wearing my shoe it is unavoidable for me to not get wet.

After the event everyone was hungry because they didn’t eat breakfast. My friend Erick knows a place where we can eat breakfast and we went there it was a karinderya the fragrant of each dishes is so overpowering and the place was a calm and chill as one dishes caught my eye and surprise surprise it was yellow rice. This yellow rice only cost 12 pesos and it made me wonder how can this only cost 12 pesos and it so damn tasty, my mouth was watering of how the yellow rice looks so golden so I ordered 2 cups of yellow rice costing me 24 pesos and some additional dishes plus some coke. After that great breakfast I the yellow rice still in my mind and kept me wondering how can I cook it I asked my friends and got no answers so I do what a every human being do when they do not know the answer is go to google and search it. For the first time I go on and brought mobile data or load. I never see any purpose buying it I just want to try what is it like to have mobile data. So I surfed Youtube during vacant time and I felt home I mean there is a lot of noise but still I felt home scrolling Youtube watching videos and then I stumble a video titled Don’t Try – The Philosophy of Charles Bukowski. he is an american writer and poet known for his unfiltered potent and often crude takes on life, Bukowski was born in Germany on 1920, he has a horrible childhood beaten regularly by his father and was ridiculed by other kids for his accent and clothing, and Bukowski developed a condition that covered his face with extreme acne further intensifying his self-consciousness. After two years of college Bukowski quit school and attempt to becoming a professional writer while doing short term blue collar job however out of hundreds of short stories only a few got publish even the one who got publish has no success. Bukowski stop writing disappointed by his attempt he goes on doing blue collar job for serveral years then in 1955 at 35 years old 10 years without writing he almost died from a serious bleeding ulcer after Bukowski survive he quit his job and began writing a couple of years and same thing happen no luck at success and forced to return to his post office job. While working he use whatever time he had to write. Writing nearly everyday before work for years. he became successful until he was in his 50s become increasingly successful and famous in the literary world.

It took Bukowski years and years of writing to finally to be successful Bukowski 1920-1994 passed away, in his grave stone writes “Don’t Try”. How could a man who is successful because of his endless trying how could this man leave the words “Don’t Try” as his finally offering. In a letter to William Packard his publisher friend and fellow writer Bukowski wrote

Too many writers write for wrong reasons. they want to get famous or they want to get rich or they want to get laid by the girls with the bluebells in their hair… when everything works best, it’s is not because you choose writing, but because writing choose you.

Bukowski trying to aspire writers but he is referring something much larger. When you were young someone ask you what is your favorite color and you answer with yellow perhaps blue or whatever color maybe it felt like a choice selecting your favorite color but it wasn’t really you like the color because of how our brain feels about the color you did not choose the color the color choose you. If you have to try to try if you have to try to want something perhaps you don’t care about it perhaps it isn’t your favorite color.

it’s not that Bukowski didn’t try it’s that he didn’t try to be something that that he didn’t try to be something that didn’t try to want to be a writer nor did he try to write how he wanted to write he just did it and kept on doing it.

Love

Abraham Twerski

What is love? Baby don’t hurt me no more but seriously though what is love? Along the week of last January I stumble upon a video about what is true love. No it’s not the song of Haddaway on 1992. Its Abraham Twerski he is a rabbi he talks about what is true love and selfish love he did this cleverly with a story about a young man and a wise person. The young man likes eating fish because he love fishes and the wise person said “Oh. You love the fish. That’s why you took it out of the water and killed it and boiled it

“Oh. He says, ‘Don’t tell me you love the fish. You love yourself, and because the fish tastes good to you; therefore, you took it out of the water and killed it and boiled it. So much of what is love is fish love. Young couple falls in love. Young man and young woman fall in love. What does that mean? That means that he saw in this woman someone who he felt could provide him with all of his physical and emotional needs, and she felt in this man somebody she feels that she can write, that was love, but each one is looking out for their own needs. It’s not love for the other. The other person becomes a vehicle for my gratification. “

“Too much of what is called love is fish love. An external love is not on what I’m going to get but I’m going to give. We had an ethicist rabbi Dessler, who said, ‘People make a serious mistake in thinking that you give to those whom you love, and the real answer is you love those to whom you give.’

Those were the words of Abraham Twerski. We often find these types of relationship in our circle of friends where someone is a vehicle for the gratification of their partner. The points he is trying to make is that we only love our self so in order to us to love someone unconditionally we have to invest our selves to someone. Now that part of me that I love my self is now in someone else, there is a part of me in some else that I love. True love is a love of giving, not a love of receiving.’
